Metrobus Ltd v Unite the Union

U appealed against an injunction preventing strike action which arose from non-compliance by U with statutory provisions in relation to pre-strike notices to the employer M. U argued the statutory provisions amounted to a disproportionate interference with U’s rights under Article 11. Court of Appeal rejected the appeal, holding the provisions to pursue a legitimate aim and to be proportionate.

Wood v Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis

2-1 split in the Court of Appeal over the taking and retention of photographs by the police of the media coordinator of The Campaign Against Arms Trade – a man with no arrests or convictions – who had been photographed while attending the AGM of a pro-arms trade company.

Tabernacle v Secretary of State for Defence

The Atomic Weapons Establishment Aldermaston Byelaws 2007 which prohibited camping violated the rights of members of the Aldermaston Women’s Peace Camp to freedom of expression and association under Articles 10 and 11.
