Call for Contributing Editors

Contributing editors have overall responsibility for keeping the area of law in their charge up to date. They receive submissions/suggestions from other interested parties who wish to contribute material about recent developments in the law.  The role of contributing editor is not simply as individual updater but also as gate-keeper (to make sure the site is not taken over by partisan interests).  The contributing editor should be motivated simply by an interest in and enthusiasm for increasing knowledge of human rights law.

The idea is that anyone can in theory submit contributions for the web-site.  They just have to send their contributions through the contributing editor for the area of law which they are interested in.

The hope is that this whole process becomes a collaborative network rather than just individual editor having to do all their own research for the tab.  And there need not be one contributing editor for each tab.  This can be a collaborative process too – and already a number of areas have a more than one person volunteering to take on an editorial role.

Finally one does not have to be a contributing editor to be a regular contributor to the website.

We are currently without contributing editors in the following areas and would appreciate applications for the positions:

  • Agriculture and fisheries law
  • Commercial and corporate law
  • Competition law
  • Consumer law
  • Discrimination law
  • Ecclesiastical law and freedom of religion
  • Insurance law
  • Intellectual property law
  • Licensing and public procurement law
  • Property law (moveable as well as land law)
  • Social security law
  • Sports law
  • Taxation

Formed in May 2009, the Scottish Human Rights Law Group is a non-affiliated, independent, professional network for those engaged in legal practice and study, in academia and politics, in campaigning and in the provision of advice. It exists to raise awareness and knowledge of human rights law in Scotland, and to provide a forum for discussion of matters of interest across the field. The group organises seminars and roundtable discussions on human rights and is accredited for the purposes of CPD.
